In 2009, we celebrated the 20th Anniversary of the festival. With the first twenty years behind us we are definitely looking forward to the next twenty.
Last year's event also featured a special performance of the Star Spangled Banner with an appearance by Marshall County's Local Kentucky National Guard, of which I was one.
Those in charge of the festival promise to continue to bring chart-topping acts along with local favorites to make the Hot August Blues Festival the number one blues event for the surrounding four state area. With their devoted concert goers and dedicated sponsors, they're well on their way to achieving this goal.
Come on out! The festival kicks off on Friday night. It is held rain or shine, so bring you poncho, lawn chair, and sunscreen. Heck, bring your Grandma she’ll love it and so will you!

Join us August 27th, 28th and 29th, 2009 for the 20th Annual Hot August Blues Festival! To commemorate the 20th anniversary, we are presenting blues fans with a special three day festival! The same great food, the same friendships and the great blues that you expect from us with a bonus day thrown in! Located on the scenic Kentucky Lake in Hardin, KY, we guarantee three days that you'll never forget!
Since its creation, Hot August Blues has remained a "must attend" event in the western Kentucky region! It's rich tradition dates back to 1989 and was the brainchild of park manager Bill Hainsworth and group sales coordinator, Gloria Peck-Hargrove.
What began as a handful of performers playing to 500 people, now covers three days, featuring 14 entertainers and with attendance in the thousands!
Featuring many regional favorites, performers also have come from as far away as Australia, both coasts, and New Orleans. The Hot August Blues Festival has included entertainers ranging from 5 years old to their 90's!
In 2007, the Hot August Blues Festival was selected as one of the state’s Top Ten summer events by the Kentucky Tourism Council! This is the 3rd time that it has been named one of the top events in Kentucky to attend.
The 20th anniversary kicks off on Thursday night with four big performances at Kenlake’s Amphitheater. The Hot August Blues Festival is held rain or shine, so grab a poncho and sunscreen and we'll see you there!
