March 26-27 – Power Of Purity Retreat

Retreat at Family of God at Reidland, a church of Christ, on March 26-27, 2010. All girls 12-19 from anywhere in the area are invited.

The Power of Purity is a seminar for teenage girls to show them the power and beauty of sexual purity. We want to help the girls understand the price of sexual activity outside of marriage -- physical, emotional, and spiritual -- and to show them their pricelessness in Christ. We want to enable them to look critically at their culture to discern the underlying messages and values. We want to raise awareness in the parents of the sexualized culture the girls live in and the pressures they face, and show them the importance of giving attention and affection to their children, monitoring their children's activities, and being spiritual leaders for their children so they are not so vulnerable. We want to work together to create a culture where sexual purity is expected, desired, and supported.
We hold weekend retreats to educate girls about sexual purity and to equip them to remain sexually pure or to reclaim their sexual purity. These retreats run from Friday evening to Saturday late afternoon.

The girls scrapbook the throughout the retreat. They come to the retreat with their own photographs gathered during a photo scavenger hunt that we send them on, and we give them a scrapbook to use upon their arrrival at the retreat. After each lesson or discussion by various speakers, the girls participate in scrapbooking sessions. By Saturday night, each girl will take home a keepsake scrapbook with pictures she took, letters she wrote, scriptures she chose, and designs she created.
